Mullet Time for Matsuzaka??

Filed under: Baseball, Boston Red Sox — Kevin @ 3:31 pm

According to a report by Amalie Genjamin of the Boston Globe.  Daisuke Matsuzaka or Dice-K has arrived to camp with a mullet (business in the front and party in the back).  I am looking forward to the first pictures out of Fort Myers, FL showing this new hair style for Dice-K.  On another note, Josh Beckett, Clay Buchholz, Jon Lester and Hideki Okajima all join Dice-K as the first big league players to arrive at Red Sox spring training.  Wow I can’t wait for the season to arrive especially since its wicked cold out in Boston today.

Pats are done so now what?

Filed under: Baseball, Boston Red Sox — Kevin @ 1:39 pm

Well, the Patriots just lost last night in the Super Bowl to the NY (should be NJ) Giants.  Boston was in total shock as we all truly believed we were destined to go totally undefeated.  So now what?  As a avid Boston sports fan we still have the Celtics and of course the Red Sox.  Pitchers and Catchers report soon and I am definitely counting down the days till they report.  See you when pitchers and catchers report.

ZZZzzzzz….What a Off-Season

Filed under: Baseball, Boston Red Sox — Kevin @ 1:03 pm

Wow, I really don’t think I can remember such a boring off-season as this one is. Besides for the Tigers trade what has really happened? We signed Dougie and Snyder but thats really about it. We are still in the Santana sweepstakes but as days go by it seems more likely that the Mets will pull it off. The really only exciting thing going on is the Patriots and the Celtics. I got to see a Giants fan walk around Boston the other day and it was actually really funny to hear people screaming stuff at him. Gotta love Boston! I am defiantly counting down the days for spring training where we can turn on NESN daily and watch the Red Sox in action.

Baseball Trading Season

Filed under: Baseball, Boston Red Sox — Kevin @ 2:56 pm

Yes, the winter meetings are finally underway and we just actually saw the first blockbuster trade of the off season.  The Tigers got Cabrera and Dontrelle for some prospects.  The trade talks between the Twins and the Boston Red Sox have heated up to a boiling point.  It kind of brings me memories when we almost got A-Rod from the Texas Rangers for Manny.  Santana however is a stellar pitcher and as you all know pitching and defense wins world championships not hitting.  Another news worth piece is that Jacoby Ellsbury has just joined the dark side of the Borus Corporation so that means in 6 years he will be asking for a huge amount of money.  I really hope that this move doesn’t put a damper on the Santana deal because word on the Boston streets is that Jacoby will be the centerpiece of any deal for Santana.  The Twins are now thinking twice because they really dont want to deal with the evil Scott “I showed up the Red Sox during the World Series, by my ridiculous A-Rod announcement” Borus.  The man we all love to hate but then again if I was a player I would sign with him because as we all know its about the MONEY!

Red Sox Re-Sign Lowell

Filed under: Baseball, Boston Red Sox — Kevin @ 5:29 pm

The Boston Red Sox just signed Mike Lowell to a 3 year deal worth $37.5 Million.  The word around Boston is that Jon Henry gave Mike a call the other night and convinced Mike to re-sign for less money and less years than what was offered by other teams.  I personally really like this deal as they are keeping him at a price that makes sense for the Red Sox.  Lets see if we can now work out a trade with Coco Crisp to bring in an arm like Santana from the Twins.

“Lowell followed a superlative regular season — career highs in batting average (.324) and RBIs (120) to go with 21 home runs in 154 games — with an outstanding October. In Boston’s four-game sweep of Colorado, Lowell hit .400 (6-for-15) with four RBIs, three walks and a team-high six runs in winning the World Series.” (ESPN.com)

Red Sox Off-Season Update

Filed under: Baseball, Boston Red Sox — Kevin @ 9:27 pm

We won the World Series and now it is time to prepare for next season and hope to repeat as World Series Champions.  So far this off-season we re-signed Schilling to a deal that I really like.  It gives Schilling a base salary that he desires and a ton on incentives which will help drive him to preform at a high level.  As of right now, Mike Lowell is still a free agent and we still will not budge from the 3 year offer.  With A-Rod now off the market I wouldnt be surprised it Mike resigns in a couple weeks to a three year deal with the Red Sox.  On another note I would really like to see them re-sign Gagne and give him another shot which I think he deserves.  Mark my words that if we re-sign him, he will not disappoint and will have a monster year to prove everyone wrong.  I will update when we make some moves and give my take.  In the mean time enjoy watching the Pats & Celtices dominate.  Boston= Title Town.

World Champs

Filed under: Baseball, Boston Red Sox — Kevin @ 9:40 am

Image above from Boston.com

This picture sums it all up that the Boston Red Sox are the 2007 World Series Champs! The Red Sox swept away a very good Colorado Rockies team in 4 games. Frankly, the Rockies didn’t even have a change againts this team. The NL is clearly the JV league and the AL is the varsity and the varsity always wins. Congrats to all of the players and espicially Red Sox Nation! Enjoy the new name of Title Town.
